Applying Our Model

Although this piece may create tension, it is doing so in a different way from the murals we have previously examined.

The mural does not seem to provide overt juxtaposition, from the perspective of a broad audience. However, one could argue the image contains a healthy amount of juxtaposition by integrating lively color with an art form often associated with violence and vandalism.

So, were an audience sufficiently versed in the modern stylistic patters of street art, this mural sets up interesting and inviting conversations surrounding notions of beauty, identity, and public space.
